Days of our Lives: Better Living

On September 23, the cast of NBC soap opera Days of our Lives came to Books & Greetings in Northvale, NJ to sign copies of the show’s new book featuring secrets from the cast for living a healthier and more balanced life. Attending stars included Kristian Alfonso (Hope), Nadia Bjorlin (Chloe), Galen Gering (Rafe), Deidre Hall (Marlena), & James Scott (EJ), as well as authors Greg Meng & Eddie Campbell. I personally did not attend this event, but my mother and friend Rich were there. Mom heard that there was up to 300 people in attendance, but her & Rich were among the first 30 people in line.

John J. York & Tyler Christopher

On Sunday, September 22, I took a ride down to Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club in Pt. Pleasant, a frequent stop for the General Hospital cast members. Today’s event featured longtime male stars John J. York (Mac Scorpio) & Tyler Christopher (Nikolas Cassadine). Tyler’s visited NJ many times in the past (this was the third time I’ve seen him out here), but for John, this was a rare appearance. The guys did a Q&A that lasted for over an hour, and then began the autograph & photo session. Legendary soap photographer Jim Warren took a great photo of John & Tyler that many of the fans in attendance bought. Thanks again to Dino from UV’s and to Linda & Paula at Coastal Entertainment for another great event as usual.

Billy Crystal Book Signing

On September 10th, legendary actor Billy Crystal signed copies of his new book, Still Foolin’ ‘Em, at Bookends Bookstore in Ridgewood, NJ. I couldn’t attend, but my mother did, and these are the pictures she sent me.

Small Talk with the Ladies of General Hospital

Two weeks ago, on September 7th, I took a little trip down to Atlantic City and visited the Trump Taj Mahal where four of General Hospital’s leading ladies held and event. The first part of the event was a VIP wine tasting and meet & greet with the second part being composed of a large Q&A. The attending stars were Finola Hughes (Anna Devane), Lisa LoCicero (Olivia Falconeri), Kelly Sullivan (Connie Falconeri), & Laura Wright (Carly Jacks).

Monster-Mania Con 25

I was supposed to attend Monster-Mania Con 25, Philadelphia’s semi-annual horror film & memorabilia convention, on Saturday, August 17th. However, my plans changed and I went down on Friday night, a very wise decision. I was able to obtain the autographs and photos of everyone that I needed, and left not having to come back for a bit on Saturday morning like I thought I would. The event was held down at the Cherry Hill Crowne Plaza.

As soon as I arrived, I ran into my friends Gordon & Kharry. They told me there were hardly any lines and that Christopher Lloyd was charging $60 for an autograph and not posing for photos at his table. Since I already had a signed 8×10 from Christopher, I went over to the Photo Ops table and purchased a ticket for a professional photo with him. I then headed back into the Main Room where I got Bruce Davison & Claire Coffee.

Bruce Davison. Bruce was there for his appearances in horror films, but I know him as Wilhelm Van Schlagel on General Hospital.

I then went upstairs for my photo op with Christopher Lloyd.

I stayed upstairs and went to the private room where Carrie Fisher was signing autographs. I had her sign an 8×10 Star Wars cast picture that Peter Mayhew had signed back in November. We chatted a bit about her mother, Debbie Reynolds, and her dog, Gary, who was curled up at her feet. Since Carrie wasn’t posing for photos either, I went downstairs and purchased a photo op ticket for her. Prior to lining up for Carrie’s photo op, I went back to the Main Room and met Terry Kiser.

Now it was time for the photo op with Carrie. I’m not a fan of simple photo ops, so when Carrie began doing seductive poses with the men, to say I was overjoyed is an understatement.

I once again retreated downstairs where I met Malcolm McDowell.

Since I had some money leftover, I went into the Vendors’ Room and bought an 11×17 Jaws poster. I brought this over to my little buddy, Dick Warlock, the legendary Hollywood stuntman who doubled for Richard Dreyfuss in the film. I spent between 25 minutes to a half hour hanging out with Dick and his wife Kat. We talked about everything from Jaws to Halloween II to Jamie Lee Curtis to Dick’s son Billy to Dawn Wells to driving and to Dick’s new car & cellphone.
